Do you need to brand your construction company?

With large companies drastically downscaling their permanent workforce and outlier expenses over the last 15 years. One might ask “Is there reason to brand, given larger companies seem to be, seemingly, getting smaller?” Does branding still have relevance today?

The answer, this article, is a resounding YES! Yes, for your clients, yes for your recruitment drives and a very big YES for your reputation. If you want a simplified reason why here is one. When you think Raubex, Stefanutti Stocks, JRG Construction and the likes Group Five, what pops into your mind? Their Logo, site stand, branded containers? All three? If any of those popped up there’s your answer. If not convinced which I hope not let’s dive more into the why?

Your Clients Need You to Brand

You want to make it as easy as realistically possible to get that potential corporate or individual client to say yes right? What better way to do that than to introduce yourself before you even meet them? Branding opportunities may present themselves in conference talks, marketing collaborations and even charity drives. Getting your brand game on point allows your company to get exposed to would be clients before their selection phase. We don’t want them checking out your name on them excel spreadsheets and have that confused look meme etch itself on their faces.

Ideally that branded work suit or vehicle gets you into the top 10 percentile of any selection process the client may have dreamt up to make the unfortunate fight over crumbs. In fact, your brand presence in the clients’ minds may be the only wall blocking a sudden attempt to reduce your going rate for the given jobs!

Smaller construction companies may tend to reap more benefits from branding. Imagine this scenario, you spot a well branded 4×4 which happens to belong to Hindra Construction. You’ve never heard of the company but judging from the vehicle branding, the company may be from a different part of the country. Probably an international company that’s opening up shop locally. It would be a tad rare, unless of course you’re a construction hippie aka professional, to immediately assume that it’s a new company that got their first vehicle and are wishing they had a big job to go with the branding quality.

Here is a one-liner: “Just brand your assets already, low cost advertising does not come easy.”

Your Recruitment Drive

When you build your brand base it gets easier to employ and retain the best skilled workforce. Of course explicit factors such as income and benefits play a major part in making the decision to stay forgetting the implicit would only aid them in leaving. One of these implicit factors is branding and branding activities, that hierarchal boost people get when they mention how they do important work for a well-known company is crucial for your teams too.

An overwhelming majority of any room with construction professionals will probably agree with me when I say their first application went to first companies that had a good reputation. Then to companies that “looked good”. You want to be at the top of the filter when it comes to the job market, it gives you opportunity to get the best crop before other firms. That’s a major win as far as any business goes. I mean, I wouldn’t feel much in the way of safety be it financially or in job security applying for a role at ABC Construction. A firm known by no one. No mentions on the internet and with nothing except a handful of company registration papers to prove that company exists.

Here is a one-liner: “Branding accelerates your business growth, given you’re already growing.”

The construction industry is stiffer than ever. Using all tools deployable to aid you in the face of competition should give you the edge against bigger firms. Branding which is a rather broad term inclusive of multiple activities is one of those tools you can’t afford to miss out even when winding down business.

The good news is that branding options and channels are getting better, faster and cheaper to utilize without any prior technical knowledge is some instances. The bad news, it’s easier to mess up your branding. If in the dark try getting a brand consultation from Primitus Leads. Alternatively keep reading these blog posts as they come along.
